Process

Our idea behind Cupcake Vodka was to continue capturing the personality of Cupcake wines; a hand crafted and good quality treat that isn’t over-priced or showy…just delicious. A reward that one can enjoy anytime. We carried that over and, step-by-step, created a super-premium vodka we are proud of. We used the highest quality ingredients: American grain and California Sierra Nevada water. We distilled six times to remove any negative elements and drove it home with charcoal filtration. We used natural flavor. As winemakers, we understand the value of using natural, raw ingredients.

American GrainStep 1: Good Natural Ingredients

The very beginning of the process is choosing what goes in. Vodka can be made with all sorts of things so we toyed around with different raw ingredients. In Original, we started with corn and added a tiny little bit of grape to produce the texture we wanted. We found we didn’t need the grape in the other flavors so they are 100% American grain. As important as what went in, is what didn’t go in. We used natural ingredients. We believe in the good old fashion way of doing things.

Step 2: Distillation

The distillation process is critical. Don’t be fooled by high numbers of distillation like 20 times distilled. That’s just marketing fluff. The process of distilling is not quantified with numbers. What really counts is cutting and removing the heads and tails, which a lot of vodka makers skimp on because it’s throwing away product. We believe it’s this cutting and good distilling that makes all the difference in our vodka. Just for good measure, we still distill ours six times {and our marketers wanted to make sure we let you know}.

Step 3: Cutting With Water

Let’s talk about water. The only thing that goes into our vodka apart from natural ingredients and flavor, is water. It’s pretty important. Many vodka producers use distilled water which removes many minerals {and if you ask us, a lot of the flavor}. Instead, we took advantage of our proximity to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, a great source of fresh water. This provides our vodkas with a lingering flavorful finish.

Step 4: Natural Flavors {yummm}

Creating our flavors was fun. Each offered the challenge of creating delicious flavor. We met this head on. We experimented with lemons {you may think a lemon is a lemon, but you’d be surprised!} We mixed and tested until we were satisfied we had created the right flavor to represent Chiffon. We made sure to layer in the taste so you get the experience of not just vanilla, but of frosting. And Devil’s Food was for the chocolate lover in all of us. We pulled together the darker, richer, bittersweet flavors of chocolate. As always; we did all of this with only natural, high-quality ingredients.

Step 5: Charcoal Filtering {the “ah-ha” moment}

Filtration was the “ah-ha” moment when making our Cupcake Vodka. It was how we captured the creamy undertones that give Cupcake its signature flavor. We think we really owe it to charcoal filtering. The good old fashioned charcoal filtration rounded everything out and cut away the sharp edges. What we were left with was a clean, soft vodka.

Step 6: Living Deliciously

As we said, we’re proud of the process and lengths we went to in creating our vodkas. It was a lot of hard work, but we managed to have a little fun too. Now, have some fun. Sit back and enjoy our vodkas. You’ll appreciate the honest taste and natural flavor. Go ahead, live deliciously.
